School Plant Nurseries Project
An educational framework provides the best means to revolutionize cultural habits and bring about attitudinal change. In order to craft an ecologically sustainable form of living among future generations through education it is important to i) develop within children a personal affinity with the earth through practical, hands-on experiences, ii) ensure that children feel grounded to a place and develop a sense of belonging to a larger community and iii) teach children how to serve and work towards the betterment of societies as proactive citizens.
CERE is helping schools to successfully practice the main principles of environmental education within the confines of an urban environment by developing a simple prototype to establish small, in-house, student-run, school plant nurseries.
The project helps children experience nature by growing and tending to plants while teachers use this project to weave together several subjects to make learning more meaningful and joyous.
