Survey of Environmental Education in Urban City Schools

Environmental education should be the focal point of a society-wide effort to radically transform peoples’ lifestyles into being more ecologically sustainable.

CERE has conducted a preliminary field survey of schools, teaching institutions and non-governmental organizations working in the field to map the changes and progress in the field of environmental education in urban schools and colleges of different strata with time, in order to help evaluate the prevailing system of environmental education and clearly understand the problem before offering solutions.

Important findings of this report were presented to the Supreme Court for the Environmental Education Petition that has made environmental education a mandatory subject from the academic year commencing 2005.
