Rainwater Harvesting at The Directorate of Police Wireless Headquarters in Pune
The Rainwater Harvest Project at the Directorate of Police Wireless Headquarters, comprises of 1 pond with 25 lac litres holding volume, 9 recharge pits, 1 well and 5 underground deep percolation trenches and has the capacity to collect 30 million litres of water each monsoon season.
Apart from overcoming the issue of water scarcity, the project will also prevent flooding of the parade grounds at the Police Wireless Headquarters.
In a country facing sever water stress, rainwater harvesting projects like these greatly benefit the community as large as they help recharge the groundwater tables and augmenting municipal water supply.
