Rainwater Harvesting and Solar Energy Projects Inaugurated At The Directorate of Police Wireless Headquarters in Pune

CERE’s Rainwater Harvesting Project and Switch on Solar installation were inaugurated at the Directorate of Police Wireless Headquarters, Pune, on 16th July 2021 by the Hon. Shri. Dilip Walse Patil, Home Minister of Maharashtra in the presence of Hon. Shri. Sanjay Pandey, Director General of Police, Maharashtra.

The Rainwater Harvest Project sponsored by Lord India Pvt. Ltd. and executed in partnership with Natural Solutions Pvt. Ltd. has the capacity to collect 30 million litres of water each monsoon season. The project comprises of 1 pond with 25 lac litres holding volume, 9 recharge pits, 1 well and 5 underground deep percolation trenches. The project will not just help recharge the groundwater table but also augment municipal water supply and empower communities to practice environmental sustainability.

The Switch on Solar project has been sponsored as part of the CSR initiative of HDFC Ltd. through the H.T. Parekh Foundation and executed in partnership with Avesta Solar Pvt. Ltd. The 113.45 kwp Rooftop Solar PV System, installed across 6 building will t not only helps with economic savings in the form of reduced electricity bills, but also have a positive impact on the environment and the climate as renewable energy helps reduce carbon emissions due to switch over from fossil fuel based electricity to clean energy. Over a 25 year life span, the project is estimated to generate 34,03,650 units of electricity and will save Rs. 3,40,36,500 on electric bills and the equivalent of 2790.993 MTCO2e will be sequestered.
