Rainwater Harvesting in Parsi Fire Temples

CERE’s Rainwater Harvesting across Parsi Fire temples aims to implement water conservation interventions across 50+ Fire Temples in a 3-year period. The project commenced in 2025 and has been implemented across 6 sites in Mumbai and Pune, namely, H.D. Saher Agiary, P.K. Cama Agiary, J.N. Petit Technical High School, Patel Agiary, Boyce Agiary and Vachaghandhy Agiary.

Various issues, such as water logging, contaminated water entering the wells, dated pipes and storage systems, existed across the different sites. Apart from interventions that addressed specific problems, rooftop rainwater harvesting systems and recharge pits were implemented at all 6 locations for freshwater augmentation. The 6 sites will harvest 50.5 million litres of fresh water annually, through the ancient wells that have been revived.

A project by Dr (Ms.) Rashneh N. Pardiwala, with the support of benevolent donors Mr. Zal K. Eranee and Mr. Jerxis Vandrevala.
